  • A patient presented with gunshot wounds to the chest.
  • A bullet was found freely mobile within the inferior vena cava and its tributaries.
  • Despite the bullet's location and mobility, the patient remained asymptomatic.

Findings:

  • The bullet was successfully retrieved from the right common femoral vein using a basket retrieval device.
  • Minimally invasive techniques can be employed for foreign body removal from major veins.
  • Successful retrieval prevented potential embolic or thrombotic complications.

Implications:

  • Selective, minimally invasive approaches are crucial for managing intravascular foreign bodies.
  • Prompt and appropriate intervention can avert severe sequelae in vascular trauma.
  • This case highlights the importance of tailored retrieval strategies for intravascular bullet migration.
