    Background:

    • Rosacea is a common chronic inflammatory skin condition.
    • The role of sebum production in rosacea pathogenesis remains debated.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the relationship between sebum excretion rate (SER) and rosacea.
    • To determine if seborrhoea contributes to the development or severity of rosacea.

    Main Methods:

    • Measured the sebum excretion rate (SER) in 55 patients diagnosed with rosacea.
    • Compared SER levels to those of 126 healthy control subjects.
    • Assessed correlation between SER and rosacea severity.

    Main Results:

    • The mean SER was not significantly higher in patients with rosacea compared to controls.
    • No correlation was found between SER and the clinical severity of rosacea.
    • Seborrhoea was not identified as a contributing factor.

    Conclusions:

    • Seborrhoea does not appear to play a role in the pathogenesis of rosacea.
    • Findings suggest that excessive sebum production is not a primary driver of rosacea.
    • Further research into other etiological factors of rosacea is warranted.
