Summary

Histological and morphometric analysis of esophageal biopsies in children with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) revealed increased epithelial and basal zone thickness, and papillary length. These findings, along with the presence of eosinophils, neutrophils, and balloon cells, serve as specific markers for pediatric GERD.
