[Urethral obstruction caused by endometriosis].

Summary

Endometriosis can rarely cause urethral obstruction. Surgical resection and hormonal therapy led to full recovery in two patients, highlighting the importance of early diagnosis to prevent kidney failure.

Background:

Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus.
Urethral obstruction is a rare but serious complication of endometriosis.

Observation:

Two cases of unilateral urethral obstruction due to endometriosis in women aged 48 and 35.
Diagnosis was confirmed pre-operatively and macroscopically during surgery.
Surgical amputation of affected urethral segments followed by anastomosis was performed.

Findings:

Histopathological examination confirmed endometriosis as the cause of obstruction.
Both patients achieved full recovery after surgery and subsequent hormonal treatment.

Implications:

Urethral endometriosis is a rare complication requiring prompt diagnosis and effective treatment.
