Abstract:
Sows (n=146) in a commercial herd were studied to determine factors affecting follicular populations and interval to ovulation after weaning. Ovaries were examined daily by ultrasonography beginning on Day 3 postweaning and twice daily from Day 4.5 until ovulation. Ovarian images were recorded on videotape on Day 3 postweaning and follicles were counted. Subsequent ultrasounds were used to determine time of ovulation.
