Continuation and maintenance electroconvulsive therapy (c/mECT) is effective for managing chronic mood disorders, particularly bipolar disorder, in treatment-resistant patients. Despite its benefits, c/mECT remains underutilized, highlighting the need for further research and optimized treatment protocols.
