    Diagnosing myasthenia gravis in older adults is challenging due to co-existing conditions. This study highlights the diagnostic and treatment complexities of myasthenia gravis in the elderly population.

    • Myasthenia gravis diagnosis in patients over 60 presents unique challenges.
    • Comorbidities like cerebrovascular, cardiovascular, and bronchopulmonary diseases complicate diagnosis and treatment.

    Observation:

    • A 15-year study in Jerusalem diagnosed 15 patients aged 60+ with myasthenia gravis.
    • The clinical course was frequently complicated by associated conditions and their therapies.

    Findings:

    • Seven patients died within 4 years of illness onset.
    • Five of these deaths were directly attributed to myasthenia gravis.

    Implications:

    • Myasthenia gravis poses significant diagnostic and therapeutic hurdles in elderly patients.
    • Further research is needed to improve management strategies for geriatric myasthenia gravis cases.
