Abstract:
Based on current literature wound healing and repair have been analyzed. Basic types of dressing materials used in wound repair as well as the use of skin grafts for covering skin lesions have been discussed. Taking into account the results of research in the fields of molecular biology and tissue engineering the authors describe the possibilities of producing skin substitutes, transplanting in vitro-cultured epithelial cells and gene therapy of various skin diseases and systemic diseases.
