[Curiosities of past times. Women in medicine]

Elizabeth Blackwell was the first woman in modern times to get in 1849 a diploma as doctor in medicine in the United States of America. In the 1860th some women in England, France, Switzerland and Russia managed to become medical doctors. In Luxembourg it was only in 1922 that the first lady became a dentist and in the year after the first lady a generalist in medical practice. In 1925, Dr Fr. Delvaux from Luxembourg wrote a text about the "bad genius in the history of medicine". In his mind the woman as a doctor was such a bad genius preventing progress in medicine.
