[Physical model of electroexcitable membranes. II. Mechanism of excitation]

The proposed model of action potential generation in electroexcitable membranes is based on physical phenomenon of the reversible thermal dielectric breakdown induced by injection of the activating charge carriers in the membrane under irritation. The model has been shown to describe well the main features of nerve excitation.
