    Summary

    Posterior capsule breaks during cataract surgery occurred more frequently with phacoemulsification than extracapsular extraction. However, proper management ensures good outcomes regardless of the surgical technique.

    • A retrospective study analyzed 346 cataract surgeries (208 phacoemulsification, 138 extracapsular extraction).
    • Posterior capsule breaks occurred in 8.17% of phacoemulsification cases and 5.07% of extracapsular extraction cases.
    • All eyes received IOLs, primarily in the posterior chamber, with effective management of breaks.
