Enhancing PSA performance in the diagnosis of prostate cancer

The assessment of serum levels of prostate specific antigen (PSA) has become an important part of early detection of prostate cancer. Among all laboratory markers of cancer, PSA is the most widely used and most clinically useful. However, the test is not perfect, and depending on the population studies, can have 65% false positives, and at least 20% false negative results.
