Area of Science:

  • Dentistry
  • Oral Pathology
  • Radiology

Background:

  • Dentigerous cysts are common benign odontogenic cysts.
  • Typically, they occur singly and are associated with unerupted permanent teeth, most often in the mandible.
  • Multiple dentigerous cysts are rare and often linked to specific genetic syndromes.

Observation:

  • This report details a unique case of bilateral dentigerous cysts.
  • The cysts were associated with impacted maxillary cuspids.
  • A significant finding was the displacement of the maxillary sinuses by these cysts.

Findings:

  • Radiologic findings revealed bilateral impacted maxillary cuspids.
  • Associated dentigerous cysts were observed to displace the maxillary sinuses.

Related Experiment Videos

  • The patient was nonsyndromic, making this presentation highly unusual.
  • Implications:

    • This case expands the known clinical spectrum of dentigerous cysts.
    • It highlights the importance of considering dentigerous cysts in the differential diagnosis of maxillary sinus displacement.
    • Further research may elucidate the specific factors contributing to this rare bilateral presentation in nonsyndromic individuals.
