Area of Science:

  • Virology
  • Infectious Diseases
  • Public Health

Background:

  • Hepatitis A virus (HAV) poses a risk of infection to specific populations.
  • Understanding transmission routes and risk factors is crucial for prevention.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To systematically search for evidence of HAV infection risk in diverse groups.
  • To provide recommendations for HAV vaccination strategies in identified at-risk populations.

Main Methods:

  • Conducted a systematic search for scientific literature on HAV infection risks.
  • Identified and analyzed data pertaining to various high-risk groups.

Main Results:

  • Evidence of HAV infection risk was found in groups such as blood transfusion recipients, travellers, military personnel, healthcare workers, sewage workers, foodhandlers, day care assistants, institutionalised subjects, drug addicts, homosexuals, prisoners, and liver transplant recipients.

Related Experiment Videos

  • Specific risk factors and transmission patterns were identified within these groups.
  • Conclusions:

    • HAV vaccination is recommended for the identified at-risk populations.
    • Targeted vaccination programs can mitigate HAV transmission in vulnerable groups.
