Objective:
To facilitate the diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary sarcoidosis.
Method:
The clinical data of 15 cases of pulmonary sarcoidosis were retrospectively analyzed.
Results:
Among these patients, 7 were identified with respiratory symptoms as the initial clinical representations, and 6 patients initially presented extrapulmonary symptoms, with 2 patients having no discomfort. Chest X-ray and lung CT scan results of 13 cases showed symmetrical lymph node enlargement in the bilateral lung hilus and mediastinum. Twelve patients had increased serum angiotensin-converting enzyme levels, and 10 had increased erythrocyte sedimentation rate, with only 1 case showing positive result in purified protein derivative skin test.
Conclusion:
Pulmonary sarcoidosis has atypical clinical symptoms, and the diagnosis should be reached by a careful evaluation of the clinical representations in conjunction with X-ray, CT, and laboratory test results.
