Summary

Endoscopic carpal tunnel release (ECTR) and open carpal tunnel release (OCTR) showed no significant long-term differences in outcomes. Patient satisfaction was lower with ECTR due to re-operations.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To compare outcomes between endoscopic carpal tunnel release (ECTR) and open carpal tunnel release (OCTR).

Main Methods:

  • Unbalanced randomized clinical trial with blinded outcome assessment.
  • Primary outcomes: symptom severity and complications.
  • Secondary outcomes: pain, grip strength, pinch strength, sensory threshold, return to work.
