  • Three male patients with idiopathic cardiomyopathy received the MicroMed DeBakey VAD as a bridge to transplant.
  • Complications included bowel necrosis and pump thrombosis in two patients, while one patient successfully bridged to transplant.
  • This marked the first VAD implantations in Turkey.

Findings:

  • The DeBakey VAD provided adequate hemodynamic support during the bridging period.
  • Device simplicity, portability, and low infection rates facilitated patient discharge.
