Area of Science:

  • Dermatology
  • Pathology

Background:

  • Linear focal elastosis is a rare disorder characterized by band-like stria and increased elastic fibers.
  • It typically affects men over 60 on the lower back, with unknown pathogenesis.

Observation:

  • A 50-year-old farmer presented with a unique linear lesion on his chin.
  • The patient had over 40 years of significant sun exposure due to fieldwork.

Findings:

  • Skin biopsy revealed extensive abnormal collagen deposition and increased elastic fibers in the dermis.
  • Clinicopathological correlation confirmed a diagnosis of facial linear focal elastosis.

Implications:

  • This case represents the first reported instance of facial linear focal elastosis.
