Development in the treatment of pituitary adenomas

We have made huge progress in the diagnosis and management of pituitary tumors during the last thirty years. Almost a hundred years ago, Cushing paved the way of treatment with very valuable results. However, there is still a long way to go, especially for the control of invasive adenomas. Currently, the key to success is undoubtedly early diagnosis and the selection of an appropriate therapy, which in most cases is multimodal.
