Background:

  • Fetal loss is a concern in pregnancy.
  • Complete Freund adjuvant (CFA) has shown potential in preventing fetal loss.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the immunological mechanisms behind CFA's protective effect against fetal loss.
  • To analyze changes in lymphocyte populations after CFA treatment.

Main Methods:

  • Mice (CBA/J x DBA/2J) were treated with CFA.
  • Splenocyte responses to paternal alloantigens were measured.
  • Lymphocyte populations (asialo GM-1, HNK-1, L3T4, Lyt-2, Mac-1) were analyzed in spleen, lymph nodes, and placenta.

Main Results:

  • CFA treatment diminished maternal splenocyte responses to paternal alloantigens.
