Abstract:
A case of reactive haemophagocytic syndrome in a patient with human immunodeficiency virus infection is presented. The diagnosis relies on bone marrow examination, as the clinical and haematologic signs are non-specific. An opportunistic infection or malignancy may be associated. Treatment is directed at the underlying disease.
