[Diagnosis of unknown primary cervical metastatic carcinoma]

Theoretically, primary carcinomas affirmatively exist when a cervical metastasis is diagnosed. However, not all primary carcinoma can be detected under present examination practically. Whether the primaries are found affects the outcomes of long-term survival and quality of life of the patients. With the exploitation of new medical instruments, development of diagnostic techniques, and improvement of diagnostic methods, more and more primaries in the patients who were formerly diagnosed as cervical metastatic carcinoma can be detected. This article aims mainly at review of definition and traditional and new developed diagnostic methods of unknown primary cervical metastatic carcinoma (UPCMC).
