Background:

  • Chemotherapy-induced nausea and emesis (CINE) is a significant challenge for cancer patients.
  • Assessing CINE's impact on quality of life (QOL) requires a validated measurement tool.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To develop and validate a questionnaire to measure the short-term impact of CINE on patient QOL.
  • To evaluate the psychometric properties of the new CINE QOL questionnaire.

Main Methods:

  • A QOL questionnaire was constructed using existing scales (EORTC QLQ-C30, MAQE, OME) and new items.
  • The questionnaire was administered daily to outpatients receiving emetogenic chemotherapy for 7-9 days.

  • The questionnaire demonstrated adequate test-retest reliability (0.44-0.84) and internal consistency (0.59-0.85).
