Summary

Aortic arch branch variations occur in 5.3% of the South African population. Awareness of these anatomical variations is crucial to prevent fatal surgical complications, especially during vascular trauma.

Implications:

  • These variations can present with diverse clinical manifestations, from infancy to adulthood, or remain asymptomatic.
