Macroprolactinemia: a new cause of hyperprolactinemia

Summary

Idiopathic hyperprolactinemia is often caused by macroprolactinemia, a condition where prolactin (PRL) forms large complexes. Identifying macroprolactinemia prevents unnecessary treatments for patients with high PRL levels.
