Summary

This case report details a patient who experienced liver damage likely caused by phenyramidol. Symptoms resolved after stopping the drug, suggesting phenyramidol may cause hepatotoxicity.

  • A 70-year-old man presented with elevated liver function tests.
  • Hepatitis from other causes was ruled out.
  • Elevated enzymes were attributed to phenyramidol treatment.

Findings:

  • This is the first reported case of probable phenyramidol-induced hepatotoxicity.
  • The liver damage was likely idiosyncratic and metabolic.
  • Liver function normalized after drug discontinuation.

Implications:
