Abstract:
Bartter's Syndrome is a chronic electrolyte losing syndrome with symptoms and abnormalities that form an organized framework in which to study clinical effects of chronic electrolyte disturbances. Bartter's Syndrome has received minimal attention in continuing education journals. The purpose of this article is to define Bartter's Syndrome, present the historical significance, pathophysiology and clinical signs and symptoms. Selected results of a case study, with specific clearance studies and nursing implications, designed to diagnose and treat this rare renal tubular dysfunction will also be presented.
