Background:

Chronic meningococcaemia is an uncommon manifestation of Neisseria meningitidis infection.
Early recognition is crucial for appropriate management and preventing severe outcomes.

Observation:

A patient presented with a week of migratory arthralgia and intermittent fever.
Maculopapular lesions and a temperature of 38.5°C were noted.
Physical examination did not indicate severe illness.

Findings:

Blood cultures yielded Neisseria meningitidis, confirming the diagnosis.
The clinical presentation was consistent with chronic meningococcaemia.

Implications:

This case underscores the importance of considering less common presentations of meningococcal infections.
Diagnostic vigilance is key, even in the absence of severe symptoms.
Further research into the pathogenesis and treatment of chronic meningococcaemia is warranted.
