Background:

  • Post-traumatic endophthalmitis is a severe intraocular infection following eye trauma.
  • Neisseria subflava is an unusual pathogen rarely implicated in endophthalmitis.

Observation:

  • A two-year-old child presented with post-traumatic corneal laceration and uveal prolapse.
  • The patient developed endophthalmitis caused by multiple organisms, including Neisseria subflava.

Findings:

  • The case represents the second known instance of endophthalmitis caused by Neisseria subflava.
  • Aggressive medical and surgical management resulted in a favorable outcome with no vision compromise.

Implications:

  • There is no standardized treatment protocol for post-traumatic endophthalmitis.
