Context:

The House-Tree-Person (H-T-P) technique is a projective drawing test used in psychological assessment.
Differentiating organic psychosis from other psychiatric conditions like schizophrenia and borderline personality disorder presents diagnostic challenges.

Purpose:

To develop and validate a modified H-T-P technique for distinguishing organic psychosis from other mental health disorders.
To identify specific H-T-P features that possess diagnostic discrimination power for organic psychosis.

Summary:

A total of 126 psychiatric inpatients, including 16 with organic psychoses, were assessed using a modified H-T-P technique evaluating 29 features.
Analysis revealed that seven specific H-T-P features demonstrated diagnostic utility in differentiating organic psychoses from other disorders.
Patients with organic psychoses exhibited distinct patterns and higher scores on these seven discriminating H-T-P features.

Impact:

This modified H-T-P approach offers a potential tool for improving the diagnostic accuracy of organic psychosis.
The identified H-T-P features can aid clinicians in differential diagnosis, leading to more targeted treatment strategies.
