Background:

Generalized eruptive histiocytoma is a rare, benign histiocytic disorder.
Understanding its relationship to other histiocytic disorders is crucial for diagnosis and management.

Observation:

A 56-year-old female presented with a 18-month history of symmetrical eruption of hundreds of bluish-red papules.
Some papules showed spontaneous resolution over time.

Findings:

Clinical and histopathological examinations were consistent with generalized eruptive histiocytoma.
Ultrastructural analysis suggested a close relationship to histiocytosis X, a non-X histiocytic disorder.

Implications:

This case contributes to the understanding of the spectrum of histiocytic disorders.
