Abstract:
Surgical eradication of premalignant or potentially malignant lesions decrease the overall mortality rate for colorectal cancer from about 60% to 20% or less. Therefore, increased efforts need to be focused on early detection of asymptomatic stages of the disease. This article serves as a guideline for early detection of colorectal cancer and its precursors in patients at high risk.
