Gastric and duodenal ulcer; the surgeon's approach

A surgeon must have a clear conception of the indications for operation for either gastric or duodenal ulcer. He must realize that his indications must be modified by his operative mortality. The operation he carries out must be determined by several factors. It is the author's opinion that the various types of distal partial gastrectomy are those most likely to succeed and to produce the fewest undesirable postoperative sequelae.
