    Summary

    This study presents a reliable method for measuring conjugated steroids in human seminal plasma. Dehydroepiandrosterone sulphate was most abundant, while testosterone sulphate was least abundant among fertile men.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To develop and validate a robust radioimmunoassay technique for quantifying five key conjugated steroids in human seminal plasma.
    • To establish reference concentration ranges for these steroids in a cohort of fertile men.
    • To compare the levels of conjugated steroids with their unconjugated counterparts.

    • Development of a radioimmunoassay (RIA) for steroid sulphates and testosterone glucuronide.

    Conclusions:

    • A reliable method for measuring key conjugated steroids in human seminal plasma has been established.
    • Significant variations in concentrations exist among different conjugated steroids in fertile men.
    • Conjugated steroid forms are predominant over unconjugated forms in seminal plasma.
