Background:

  • Autopsy revealed necrotizing enterocolitis, peritonitis, pneumonia, mucosal ulceration, and widespread microbial overgrowth without acute inflammation.

  • Specific bronchopneumonia foci showed neutrophil infiltration, suggesting CD18-independent emigration pathways.
