Foundation:
A descriptive study has been carried out, to perform body mass index, between 2606 schoolchildren at Madrid, during 1986 to 1990.
Methods:
Observational and transversal study.
Results:
The data obtained were compared by age and sex for each year, and we calculated the body mass index percentiles for each group in the study. Mean body mass index rises with age and also 90 and 95 percentiles.
Conclusion:
The 1.5% and 0.8% of children at 6 years had BMI more than 26, for male and female respectively. At age 10, this percentages were 9.5% and 11.6% for male and female, and the results for age 13 were 16.1% and 17.8% respectively.

Study Designs in Epidemiology
Observational studies are those where the researcher does not intervene but rather observes natural variations. They include cross-sectional, cohort, and case-control studies.
