Summary

Rumen bacteria possess deoxyribonuclease enzymes capable of degrading DNA. Bacteroides succinogenes and Bacteroides ruminicola showed particularly high deoxyribonuclease activity, suggesting potential roles in DNA processing within the rumen environment.
