  • Elevated levels of serum alanine aminotransferase (s-ALT) correlated with IgM antibody presence.
  • Patients positive for IgM antibody also exhibited high titers of IgG antibody to hepatitis C virus.

  • Testing for IgM antibody may improve the evaluation of disease recurrence and activity in chronic hepatitis C.
