Low back pain following epidural blood patch.

Spinal anesthesia is used for outpatient procedures like knee arthroscopy.
Postdural puncture headache is a known complication.
Epidural blood patch is a common treatment for persistent postdural puncture headache.

Observation:

A patient developed severe backache following an epidural blood patch.
Computed axial tomography revealed epidural air.
Symptoms persisted for two days despite initial treatment.

Findings:

Aspirin 600 mg four times daily provided acute and significant relief from backache.
The backache resolved completely within one week.
Epidural air was identified as a potential cause of the backache.

Implications:

This case highlights a rare complication of epidural blood patch.
Aspirin may be an effective treatment for post-epidural blood patch backache.
Further research into the etiology and management of backache after epidural blood patch is warranted.
