Abstract:
Two popular ways of specifying the quality of health and social care are explained. Examples are used to illustrate: (a) the mission statement/minimum standard method; and (b) the aim/objective method. Strengths and weaknesses of these approaches are highlighted by using a writing-style analyser, and an evaluation model from the literature. Ways of correcting some of the weaknesses are suggested.
