Background:

A previously healthy 35-year-old man underwent surgery for recurrent left pneumothorax.
The procedure involved resection of apical bullae and pleurodesis.

Observation:

Postoperatively, the patient experienced left-sided hypesthesia, mild ptosis, and reduced sweating.
These sympathetic nerve deficits persisted despite improvement in hypesthesia.

Findings:

Nine months later, the patient exhibited severe localized gustatory sweating on the left face and chest after consuming a sour apple.
Infrared thermography confirmed a significant drop in skin temperature in the affected sweating areas.

The findings suggest intraoperative damage to the stellate ganglion or its preganglionic connections.

Localized gustatory sweating is a rare neurological phenomenon with limited treatment options, primarily involving stimulus avoidance.
