This study reports the first documented case of a vulvar sebaceous epithelioma in a 77-year-old woman. Histologic examination revealed a 1.5 cm tumor with specific cellular characteristics and mild invasiveness.

Area of Science:

  • Dermatopathology
  • Gynecologic Oncology

Background:

  • Sebaceous tumors are rare skin neoplasms.
  • Vulvar sebaceous neoplasms are exceptionally uncommon, with limited prior documentation.

Observation:

  • A solitary, ulcerated vulvar tumor present for one year in a 77-year-old female.
  • Histologic examination revealed a 1.5 cm sebaceous epithelioma.

Findings:

  • The tumor exhibited a peripheral area of less differentiated cells, increased mitoses, and slight invasiveness.
  • This represents the first reported instance of sebaceous epithelioma in the vulvar region.

Implications:

  • Highlights the importance of considering rare sebaceous neoplasms in vulvar differential diagnoses.
  • Contributes to the limited literature on vulvar sebaceous epithelioma, aiding future clinical and research efforts.
