Sixty patients with Stages IIB-III chronic heart failure were examined. The main group included 30 patients on complex therapy involving isolated ultrafiltration (IUF), the other 30 patients who refused to have IUF comprised the control group. The patients from the main group had improvement in the phasic pattern of a cardiac cycle, which was associated with enhanced myocardial contractility and performance due to decreased preload. Improved phasic parameters observed after IUF sessions were sustained in the post-ultrafiltration period and different from those in the control group in which their significant changes were absent during treatment.
