Summary

Dissecting aneurysms in the vertebrobasilar artery can cause ischemic symptoms. Many cases of dolichoectasia may actually be dissecting lesions, identifiable with advanced MRI techniques.

  • MRI successfully visualized dissecting lesions, differentiating them from typical dolichoectasia.
  • Gradient-refocused MRI with cardiac gating demonstrated slow flow within the false lumen.
