Abstract:
Recent studies using gene therapy to correct low-density lipoprotein (LDL)-receptor deficiency in rabbits suggest that practical applications of such techniques may be forthcoming. While complete correction of elevated serum cholesterol levels resulting from LDL-receptor deficiency is not yet possible, significant reductions were possible following gene therapy.
