    Vascular renal tumour embolisation using Gelaspon particles successfully occluded arterial supply in all patients. This minimally invasive procedure was performed pre-operatively in most cases with no reported complications.

    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Gelaspon particle embolisation for vascular renal tumours.
    • To assess the feasibility of pre-operative embolisation in patients with renal tumours.

    Main Methods:

    • Ten embolisation procedures were performed in nine patients with vascular renal tumours.
    • Gelatine sponge particles (Gelaspon) were used as the embolic agent.
    • Eight patients underwent pre-operative embolisation; one patient with inoperable hypernephroma received two embolisation treatments.

    Main Results:

    • Successful occlusion of the arterial supply was achieved in all treated patients.
    • The procedure was technically feasible in every case.
    • No complications were observed during or after the embolisation procedures.

    Conclusions:

    • Gelatine sponge particle embolisation is an effective and safe method for treating vascular renal tumours.
    • Pre-operative embolisation of renal tumours is a viable option, potentially simplifying surgical management.
    • The technique demonstrates a high success rate with an excellent safety profile.
