Background:

Spinal cord abscesses are rare but serious infections.
Anaerobic bacteria are uncommon causes of central nervous system infections.

Observation:

A patient presented with symptoms indicative of central nervous system infection.
Cranial and spinal imaging revealed multiple abscesses.

Findings:

The causative agent was identified as Bacteroides disiens, an unusual anaerobe.
The patient had an acute pyogenic intramedullary cervical spinal cord abscess, brain abscesses, and meningitis.

Implications:

This case highlights Bacteroides disiens as a potential pathogen in CNS infections.
Spinal magnetic resonance imaging is essential for diagnosing spinal cord abscesses.
Early diagnosis and appropriate antimicrobial therapy are critical for patient outcomes.
