[The structure and seasonality of strokes in the Central Asian region]
Insights
Cerebral blood circulation disorders, primarily ischemic stroke, affect males under 50. Hypertensive disease and atherosclerosis are key causes, with peak incidence in the Middle Asia region during winter and spring.
Area of Science:
- Neurology
- Epidemiology
- Cardiovascular Medicine
Context:
- Analysis of 1475 patient case histories with cerebral blood circulation disorders.
- Focus on ischemic stroke (93.9%) and hemorrhagic stroke (6.1%).
- Prevalence of acute cerebrovascular events in males under 50 years old.
Purpose:
- To analyze the etiological factors and seasonal incidence of cerebrovascular disorders.
- Identify primary causes including hypertensive disease, atherosclerosis, and their combination.
- Determine geographical and temporal patterns of stroke incidence in the Middle Asia region.
Summary:
- Hypertensive disease (47.3%) and atherosclerosis (35.8%) are the leading causes of stroke.
- A combined etiology of hypertension and atherosclerosis accounts for 12.6% of cases.
- Stroke incidence peaks in the winter-spring months (January-April) and is lowest in summer-autumn.
Impact:
- Provides crucial epidemiological data on stroke risk factors and demographics.
- Highlights the significant role of hypertension and atherosclerosis in cerebrovascular disease.
- Informs public health strategies for stroke prevention, particularly in the Middle Asia region during specific seasons.
Abstract:
An analysis is presented of case histories of 1475 patients with disorders of the cerebral blood circulation (ischemic stroke--93.9%, hemorrhagic stroke--6.1%). Acute disorders of the cerebral blood circulation prevailed in males up to 50 years of age. The main cause was hypertensive disease (47.3%), atherosclerosis--35.8% and their combination--12.6%. Maximum incidence of stroke in Middle Asia region was noted during winter-spring period (January, February, March, April), minimum incidence during the summer-autumn period.

Preload refers to the degree of stretch on the heart before it contracts. It's analogous to the stretching of a rubber band; the more it's stretched, the more forcefully it snaps back. This concept is encapsulated in the Frank-Starling law of the...
