Abstract:
The ultrastructure of mesophyll cells of spruce needle of different age within the region of Chernobyl catastrophe has been investigated. The quantitative characteristics of chloroplasts are shown to be a function of the absorbed dose rate. The effect of ionizing radiation on the processes of needle tissue ageing is discussed.
