Summary

Heterotopic ossification (HO) occurs in 39% of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) patients, primarily anterior to the distal femur. This condition does not significantly impact knee range of motion (ROM) one year post-surgery.

Background:

  • Heterotopic ossification (HO) is the abnormal formation of bone in non-skeletal tissues.
